At its second meeting from 12 - 14 March 2008 in Murcia, Spain, the SWIFT project decided to adopt the socalled Bled declaration titled Towards a European approach to the Future Internet. The declaration recognises that a "significant change is required and the European Internet scientific and economic ctors, researchers, industrialists, SMEs, users, service and content providers, now assert the urgent necessity to redesign the Internet, taking a broad multidisciplinary approach, to meet Europe’s societal and commercial ambitions.

The latest version of the declaration recognizes the importance of Identity Management an essential part of the Future Internet. It identifies "Technologies ensuring the robustness and security of the networks, managing identities, protecting privacy and creating trust in the on-line world" as part of the design, development and experimental work.

Thanks for visiting our web pages. They are intended to give you an overview of the challenges related to Identity Management that our project is addressing. We have picked up on key research done in previous EU IST projects to apply the concept of what we term "Virtual Identities" to the network, and to bridge this to other domains. Privacy as well as new opportunities for operators are two of our key interests.
