Abstract. Identity Management is getting a great interest in research communities and private sector. Several proposals have emerged in last years which are mainly based on Web as the driving technology. However, some other aspects also related to identity management such as information privacy, support for additional scenarios and applications apart from Web, and lack of interoperability are already open issues to be solved. A single view on identity management is necessary to the integrated deployment at a global scale. In this document we present a framework from the EU FP7 SWIFT project with the aim of providing privacy mechanisms for end users at several layers, from network to application, by mean of virtual identities.
